I totally agree with you. I'm in the boat of re-signing Kane. We've been looking for this player for years. We have him now. 2-3 years is not a bad deal if he'd take it.

Faulk would suffice
- sbroads24

I think you could do better if you were moving 23. Faulk's a good target though.

A. If he plays lights out, like he has, he's never taking a 2-3 year deal
B. If he doesn't play lights out, you aren't re-upping your 5th 6th best player to a deal

Hard to imagine if he keeps playing well that someone (vancouver) won't give him more term. I dont know if id want to commit to that.

You're talking about exchanging an asset I believe will be valuable in the future or exchanging an asset I believe will be invaluable.

I know we have to give to get. I'm willing to do that. But I don't want to lose 23.

- Der Kaiser

Agreed, however if they don't address it soon it may come to that

"does anyone think that Marcus Foligno, Tyler Ennis or rookie Alexander Nylander could come close to filling that role?"

Thank you.
because no.

his problems go back to his days in junior, he is not worth his current salary and will be looking for a raise on his next one. He has scored exactly 30 goals on the dot once and will never again. He is a very good forechecking 3rd liner who if he stays out of trouble and off the IR (two things he struggles with ) he is a 40-50 point guy at the very best. Kane knows he is playing for his next contract, dont be fooled and over pay. If only he were half as good as he thought he was.

I think the whole plan was to have him be a call up center and that got botched by stupid Nashville who probably should have just watched a game or two if his to avoid the whole thing.

If you have a Derek Grant lasting more than 4 games, please seek AHL attention

What happened to Girgensons? I didn't notice him gone in the Sharks game. Kane must still be feeling the boards

Kane might be the only thing saving this from being a tank like season.

Girgenson is out do to the beating he took in NJ and his physical nature on the ice. I think they put him in an ice bath and locked the door

How do you know ?Fashing has done nothing but vanish since we got him, we know what we can get so far from Carrier and the other 2 aren't ready. You don't remove a power forward like Kane for a D man when we still may not make the playoffs and have contracts coming off the books for next year. We will have plenty of time to get a LHD D man.

But for the sake to save on arguments, i'll just agree with everyone to move Kane. Most have wanted him gone since he got her anyway.

- SABRES 89

How about signing Vanek next year at $3M for one year to play the top W position for Eichel if you can get the defenseman the team so badly needs for Kane?

In that scenario, you would have filled two positions for the price of one, potentially, or close to it.

I don't know how anybody could commit to a long term deal with Kane with anything resembling confidence based on his past.

That is just supporting evidence as to the reason he is being looked at as a key piece in an attempt to get a quality defensemen back.
